Sea Turtle at sunset on the North Shore of Oahu – Hawaii

The Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas) loves to bask on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The most widely known place, where turtles often crawl ashore is the Laniakea Beach, therefore this place is almost always full of tourists. Fortunately, local people know some „secret” beaches, where the conditions are much better for honu photography. Many thanks to Beach Bum Brian for sharing his favorite places with me. A few days ago, I went to one of these places and finally, I was able to create the picture I imagined in my mind, which was a wide-angle image with the resting turtle in the foreground and the sunset in the background. I used my flash to add a bit of fill light to the otherwise backlit turtle.
